Why the delay on 5G?

I am new here - honestly wasn’t sure if I should ask here or in Explain it like I’m five. I have only a basic knowledge on this topic. So here goes...Why is there such a controversy on deployment of 5G network, especially in the U.S.? I see things here and there about conspiracies, safety concerns, China’s Huawei being assholes, all kinds of things. I don’t know what to make of it. Are any of the concerns legit?Imho, access to high speed internet is life enabling and life saving. The more we can provide for rural areas, underdeveloped areas, poor areas, etc. the better for all of us in society. Levels the playing field for education, access to information on all topics - news, weather, government, science, health, (and I’d be remiss without saying, porn).Especially in Corona times, it has struck me how completely unfair it feels for even one person to have no access to reliable high speed internet. Everyone stay at home! Order your medicine and groceries online! Bank online! Vote online! Zoom call your family! Use an app for that! That’s all working out fine with the people who have reliable high speed. But for those who don’t, well, they’re basically fucked.Let me be clear that I do not in any way want this question to turn into a political statement! Although I suspect politics are (probably?) partly to blame for the lack of rollout, I truly want to understand why there are objections to 5G, what they are, and if they have any merit.TL/DR: Help me understand- why the delay on 5G rollout, and therefore delay access to high speed internet for the masses?
