What if Facebook paid users a small percentage of the money their data generates?

I’m an advertiser on Facebook and I am a user of nearly all of Facebook’s products. So I find myself getting pulled in opposite directions. On the one hand, I’m uncomfortable with the amount of data facebook has on me and the tactics it employs to drag my monkey brain into the black hole of mindlessly scrolling the Instagram feed.On the other hand, I love how accurate Facebook’s tracking data is because it means I can reach people who are interested in the products and services I sell and I can do so reasonably profitably. What if there was a world in which Facebook paid users a 20% cut of the ad revenue they generate just by scrolling through their feed? They’ve tested something similar to this in the past on a small scale, but it wasn’t well received: https://ift.tt/2SgkOoC you think this would be a world in which people would be more inclined to give up as much data as they can and be happy to spend as much time as they can scrolling through their feeds? Why wouldn’t facebook or other social networks do something like this?People are growing more aware of how their data is being harvested and used. Surely this kind of strategy would provide people the opportunity to opt out, while incentivising people to choose to opt in?If this were an option, would you opt in or opt out?Do you think this would be a world in which people would be more inclined to give up as much data as they can and be happy to spend as much time as they can scrolling through their feeds? Why wouldn’t facebook or other social networks do something like this?People are growing more aware of how their data is being harvested and used.
